What UAE e-invoicing means for your business

The UAE Electronic Invoicing System introduces the electronic exchange and reporting of structured invoice data for transactions within its scope. PDF files, Word documents, images and emailed invoice attachments do not, by themselves, qualify as electronic invoices.

Businesses will need accurate invoice information, dependable accounting records and an integration path with an Accredited Service Provider (ASP) under the UAE framework.

E-invoicing, explained.

Useful answers as your finance and IT teams prepare for the transition.

Is a PDF invoice considered an e-invoice?+

No. The UAE system requires structured electronic invoice data. Sending a PDF by email does not meet the definition of an e-invoice.

Does an ERP vendor need to be an accredited service provider?+

The UAE framework uses Accredited Service Providers for electronic invoice exchange and reporting. Our ERP software is integrated with a UAE Accredited Service Provider. ACD is the ERP software vendor; it does not claim to be an accredited service provider itself.

Can we keep using our existing ERP?+

Potentially, yes. The implementation depends on whether your deployed ERP version can provide required data and connect to an appropriate ASP. Ask ACD for a product-specific assessment.

Is every UAE business required to start at the same time?+

No. Mandatory rollout is phased according to revenue and entity type, with specified exclusions. Always check current Ministry of Finance guidance.
